The best thing I did this summer was 5 days hiking along 'Tiger leaping Gorge' in Yunnan. With the October break coming up I'd like to find somewhere local to do more or less the same thing - that is hike for a few days and stay in cheap hostels each night, or camp if possible. Yuyao looks pretty nice and isn't far. The Siming national park there.
Anyone done this ? Been there ? Know anywhere else ? I really want to go for a few days, not a day-trip.

the big problem for you is the language.you cannot talk to people otherwise you can get free food and free accomodation in the country. and have fun drinking with those peasants. they are all good and very friendly. besides, don't thin the Siming national part is good idea. don't like those artificial thing. cheers.

i think Ninghai is quite not developed, and we went to the East Canyon the other day, and only one mountain in that canyon which you can climb up and you can use the stairs and you know, after we finished that one, people tell us that there are another three or four waiting for us.

Interested in the hiking you're planning, Robert. Would you like to have someone as your companion? I'm Chinese, female, 28.

Me too Todd, and all those Chinese girls who want to come. Let's get some tents, sleeping bags and stoves and head off one weekend, some time soon.
I never did make it to Yuyao so am still interested.

Hehe, both! It's still a bit chilly, so I'll need a Chinese girl either side of me in the tent, preferably girls who don't go by the name Irvin. Although I did have a charming female student last year called Mervin.
Anyway Tomo, come on man, you are Mr Ningbo Outdoor Pursuits Extraordinair (NOPE), are you gonna lead us?
