Hello every one, I am planning to visit Su zhou by the end of next month, has anybody been to or lived in Su zhou and could tell me somewhere to stay, cheap, clean, convenient.... and what's good to see, also any good restaurants you've visited while there. Thanks a lot.

Tiger Hill is probably the most traveled tourist spot. The landscaping is pretty nice, minus the heavy crowds there. There are some gardens that are recognized in part by UNESCO World Heritage, all similar, but nicely preserved and pleasant. If you want to visit temples or gardens, it will cost you a bit. Throughout the city and surrounding area there are over 70 gardens and temples.
We made a mistake last time and visited some garden that was recommended to us by a taxi driver, ended up being a total tourist trap, 50rmb a person for entrance and nothing more than newly (and weakly) landscaped areas surrounding a stream-- I wish I could remember the name to save you the trouble of ending up there but I can't. There was nothing historical or redeeming about it.
On the whole, there is alot of good walking areas and some preserved areas of the city wall (particularly the SouthWest area of the city moat). Bring along your camera if you have one, as there's more to see than here in Ningbo. Taxis are convenient, but run a higher fee than Ningbo's.
If you like trinket shopping, around the Han Shan Temple and also near the area of the canal that has lots of boat tours (I think it's in the Northern area of the main canal), you'll find plenty of bargaining stalls.
