I am from USA and will be in Ningbo 3/20 to 3/27 on business in Cixi an Yuyao. Last year I spent free time in Guilin and Shanghai doing the tourist things. I will have a long weekend in Ningbo and would like suggestions on things to see and do. Back to Shanghai? Huangshen? Bejing? Ningbo?

There are many nice places to visit in and around Ningbo. I guess it dpends on how often you get to China. If you are a seldom visitor, then you should consider Hangzhou and West Lake, since you are so close. If you are a frequent visitor, stay and enjoy our lovely city and surrounds. Happy to give suggestions depending on the things you like about China.

I get to Ningbo about once a year to visit my suppliers. Last visit I toured Guilin, Shanghai and Hong Kong and liked them in that order. I will probably stay in Ningbo during the week and do some evening touring. Thinking of Hangzhou for the weekend. Any suggestions? I have read about a new evening show called "Impressions West Lake". Do you know anything about it?

Depends on what you like to do when you tour. Ningbo has several easy-to-reach historic sites that I think are a decent visit. Tianyi Pavillion is located near the Howard Johnson Hotel, just down the street. Also Bao Gou Temple is about 15 minutes outside the city and a good place for hiking and wandering about in the mountains. Both are cheap and in a good time of year for the plants beginning their bloom. If you're looking for more lively entertainment, might as well book your evening agenda for Hangzhou, as I'm sure there's more going on there than here.
