Hello all my husband, my little boy and i, will be moving to Ningbo soon (around 23 of March). We are from Greece and I personally had never been to China before. My husband spend 3 months at Wuhan and Ningbo doing a preparation course for his job. I found this site very good and interesting and i'm glad of that, becouse i've been searching some informations about Ningbo and in fact i can't say that i manage to find a lot of things... I have to admit, that i'm a little afraid about this move..We don't know where the safe places to live are, or if we could manage to find a kindergarden for our 1+1/2years old boy or even if we find new friends... It's really very encouraging seeing that your forum is so friendly and willing to help....!!!!!!

Hi Katerina,
Welcome, have little fear, unless you go looking for trouble, Ningbo is one of the safest places you will find. As to where to stay, hang around the main town areas and you will be fine. I live in Haishu district, it is perfectly safe and close to the centre of town.

Hello, I have recently moved to Beilun from Canada to teach English and I was wondering if there are any international churches in Ningbo? I'm not really sure about how to use this web site so I am including my web site. Thanks karen.chubay@yahoo.ca

Karen, you can use the search button. In this way you will find the earlier threads containing the information you are searching for. For example, search for "christian church", you should get all the entries that have touch the subject.

The Howard Johnson Service Apts are much better. Go check them out. The ones at Portman are good but not great. The ones are Howard Johnson are more unique..plus they negotiate with you.

FYI, The Howard Johnson has 6 different room types for service apts. I know this cuz my friend used to stay there.
Smallest is like 40M and the biggest is 90 square M..They are super sweet..
Plus, unlike the Portman you get free gym and swimming pool whenever you want at Howard Johnson.

This is like that time this guy asked my step-mother, in the US, "Oh, so you are from Chile? I knew a guy from Bolivia that had a shoe store, Juan, do you know him?" ;D

No, I don't work for the Howard Johnson. I just like it there. in fact I'l ldo anything to push people towards them rather than the Sheraton/Portman. Things over there are a mess. Hojo is just kind of out of the way. But the service is actually better. I've stayed at both and my last experience at Sheraton was less than enjoyable. So Now I'm singing their competition's praises from the rooftops! Info on Hojo service Apts: www.hojoningbo.com/en/accommodation_read.asp?CataID=000500020003&CataName=Service%20Apartment

...Things at the Sheraton are a mess? ... i guess you're an 'insider' I don't think Hojo is out of the way and i certainly won't slag it off...for personal reasons But, the Sheraton is still fantastic in terms of service, though i think they're a tad on the expensive side. I really don't want to turn this into some kinda of contest, so thanks to those who PMed and mailed me for details on the Portmans Apartment.
